If you want to learn how to counter your mates' offensive play, how to score goals, or you simply want to know how to make your game more consistent, continue reading the article.
We will review some simple, yet game-changing details that will help you achieve your goal.
Use the radar
The radar at the bottom of the screen is an invaluable resource, but too often players don’t use it. We usually FIFA with a fairly close camera, which lets us see what’s going on and brings us close to the action. The radar gives you the option to view the FIFA as in real life. It lets you see which players are marked and which ones have space, as well as whether or not a ball over the top would be effective. It’s an underrated tool on your path to bragging rights.
Jockey
FIFA 21 is built for fast-paced entertainment. Many players tend to attack rather and defend because it's easier. Sometimes it's better to simply jockey your opponent and push the attackers away from danger. You're less likely to be exposed because not lots of players do that and you won't give away fouls. It takes some concentration, but it’s a better tactic than just jumping into tackles and risking a free kick or a booking, generally.
Agile dribbling
There are two new attacking features in FIFA 21, Agile dribbling and Creative runs. If you learn how to use them properly, they can give you serious tactical priority. Agile dribbling is activated by pushing RB/R1 and means the player in possession will keep the ball tight to their body, waiting for the right moment for you to knock it past your opponent and run. As we see Wilfred Zaha, Raheem Sterling, and other professional players do this in the Premier League every week.
Creative runs work with LB/L1 followed by a flick of the right stick. Rather than relying on the AI to make the right run, you can now direct your runners exactly where you want to go.
Using these two features will give you more control in the final third.
Not sprinting
Sprinting not only tires out your players and drains their stamina, but also makes it harder for them to control the ball, pick a pass out, and makes the power bar move much faster.
Since FIFA is a fast football stimulation and never sprinting cannot be an option, you can use it sparingly, use it when you absolutely need a gut-busting pace, and try life in the slow lane more often.
Set pieces
Trying out the drills, just like in FIFA 20, can help you a lot to get a hang of the free kicks. Free kicks now allow you to put different levels of spin and curve on the ball, while the shooting buttons still provide power and technique. It takes a while to get used to it, but in the long run, FIFA 21 has some of the most precise free-kick options in the franchise’s history.
Crossing
The crossing was kind of abandoned in FIFA 20, but major changes had applied to it in FIFA 21. Headers work more effectively and crossing is more accurate. Aiming for just behind the penalty spot is a good shout for strikers running into the box, and hitting it over everyone for the winger on the other side to cut in with a volley.
Note that volleys have been fixed as well.
Get to know your team players
Most FIFA 21 players have a set crop of teams they like to play as online, having carefully chosen which of the world’s top teams most suit their playing style. In Ultimate Team, you will occasionally trade away some players for slightly better ones. While this is a good idea and helps you find the right player for your team, you might find yourself sticking with the same basic crop.
So, get to know your players to prevent this. Know which one has a better pace, which is better in the air, etc. By knowing your players' strengths and weaknesses, you will never put them in situations they can’t handle which helps you win more games and get more FIFA 21 coins.
