EA Sports has officially announced the next Ultimate Team promo: many FUT fans were expecting Team of the Year to drop next, but instead, we’ll be getting “Headliners” as we celebrate the new year.
The most important difference between Headliners and OTWs is the newer card always stays +1 above the player’s highest card which means it’s always going to be valuable, and stay ahead of the curve to boot.
Real-life performances affect these bright orange special cards value. Team of the Week, Team of the Group Stage, Hero, and Man of the Match cards all impact a Headliner card’s overall rating.
Headliners Beginning Date
According to leaks revealed by popular Ultimate Team data miner FutWatch on December 29th, 2020, it has been confirmed that Headliners will start this week. The promo starts today on 1st January 2021. The event should run for just over a fortnight and end in mid-January.
You can follow EA Sports, FUTWatch Twitter, or check out the Ultimate Team's countdown loading screen to follow the event.
Headliners Player Cards
As for FIFA 20 last year many great players such as Neymar graced the star-studded FIFA 20 promo team. This trend seems to be based on how many in-form TOTW cards those players had already raked in, and also their on-the-pitch performances.
We created a list of the possible players in the new Headliners team which comes this week.
- Robert Lewandowski
- Andy Delort
- Hirving Lozano
- Ollie Watkins
- Heung-min Son
- Marcus Rashford
- Ferland Mendy
- Andrea Belotti
- Patrick Bamford
- Erling Braut Haaland
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin
- Fernando Pacheco
- Matheus Cunha
- Fernando Llorente
If EA decides to ignore picking up the players based on their in-form cards or performances, we might see more Meta picks like Paul Pogba and Joe Gomez in the promo lineup on Friday evening. Make sure to save a few FUT coins in your pocket, if the event is anything like last year's, there are some cards for grabbing on the way! Check out WhatsGaming.net if you needed to buy extra FUT coins for the event.
